The Ronald Reagan Centennial Conference

"Reagan in a World Transformed, 1981–2011"

Reagan Centennial

"I'm so pleased that the Miller Center will again honor my husband in a special way on his Centennial Birthday. Or, as he would have called it, the 39th anniversary of his 61st birthday."
–Nancy Reagan

On February 10-11, the Miller Center convened “Reagan in a World Transformed,” the second in the four-part conference series for the official Ronald Reagan Centennial.  Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Senator John Warner, Senator Jim Webb, and NBC’s Andrea Mitchell headlined a gathering of over 20 distinguished scholars and public officials who deliberated and reported on Reagan’s legacy in international affairs.

February 6, 2011, marks the 100th anniversary of President Reagan’s birth.  To commemorate this occasion, Congress passed a resolution in June 2009 creating the 11-member Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission.  Throughout 2011, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Foundation, in concert with the Centennial Commission, will execute a variety of events to commemorate this anniversary including the four-part academic conference series.  This series, entitled “The Leadership of President Ronald Reagan: Lessons and Legacy,” will include conferences organized by the Miller Center, the University of Southern California, the University of Notre Dame and the U.S. Naval Academy.

The conference took place on February 10-11 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
