Business of Intelligence Gathering & Analysis

During the 2008-2009 academic year the Miller Center Forum hosted a special series on the business of gathering, analysis, dissemination and use of intelligence. The 9-11 tragedy brought to light devastating intelligence failures and raised questions regarding the need to restructure the U.S. intelligence community, its many agencies, operations and procedures.

This series examines these issues in greater detail, as well as assesses significant intelligence strengths by inviting experts from the field to offer their perspectives and policy recommendations. The series will focus on six key areas of interest with respect to intelligence: 1) history, 2) collection, 3) analysis, 4) interagency politics, 5) operations and, 6) legal issues.
