Eric is currently a Professor of history at the University of California, Davis, and was previously a University Lecturer at Oxford.  He earned his PhD in History from Stanford University in 1996. He is currently writing a book titled The Money-Makers: The Invention of Prosperity, from the abandonment of the gold standard through the Bretton Woods agreements of 1944. He is interested in how international and domestic politics made it possible, in the middle twentieth century, for governments to gain control of their money and with it, macroeconomic policy.
