Matthew Lassiter is Associate Professor of History and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan.  His research interests include: Southern history, urban history, and American political development. He is the author and editor of several books including The Myth of South Exceptionalism (Oxford University Press, 2009), with Joseph Crespino, The Silent Majority: Suburban Politics in the Sunbelt South (Princeton University Press, 2006), winner of 2007 Lillian Smith Book Award.
